The VFMC is delighted to present well known and popular British folk singer Martyn Wyndham-Read, as part of perhaps his last tour of Australia.
This event is a house concert to be held in Park Orchards. A light supper will be provided.
It is a private event not being publicly advertised. The location will be advised to all ticket holders by email, a couple of days prior to the concert. Parking is available but limited. Car pooling is encouraged.
Please arrive from 7.00pm for a 7.30pm start.
Martyn has toured Australia on numerous occasions previously. In the sixties, he spent time living and working in Australia. It was then that he heard, first-hand, the old songs sung by some of the station hands. He became captivated by these songs and their history and origin.

Martyn Wyndham-Read is an English-born folk singer, notable as a collector and singer of Australian folk songs. He lived and worked in Australia from 1960 to 1967 and has been a regular visitor to the country ever since. In 1960 Wyndham-Read moved from Sussex to Australia where he worked on Emu Springs sheep station in South Australia. It was there that he heard, first-hand, the old songs sung by some of the station hands. He became captivated by these songs and their history and origin.
